Some network cards, specially on HP servers, have a feature that strips VLAN tags from incoming packets.

If it is your case look for b57udiag and instructions on how to disable ASF and IPMI.

Great article.

I'd like to also add, that on some debian installs, it might not find GCC as you might not have it installed. Just in case, just quickly install it first with apt-get.

The service is the ROM service.
Files involved are C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ROMCHECK.DLL
and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ROMCHECKSERVICE.EXE

HP has a patch to fix this problem with updated versions of the files.
Problem usually occurs after upgrading to Windows 2003 SP1 or 2, and is a known "issue" on the HP website.

When I decided to turn TMG into a blog a few months ago I went back and forth as to whether I should do a gallery at my website or just subscribe to flickr. In all honesty if I would have just put up a gallery on my website I would have been disappointed. With flickr people are viewing my photos who might not otherwise. What I like best about flickr is groups. I can submit photo to specific groups if I want to get more hits and feedback. Plus there are several wordpress plugins out there that you can embed into your blog, which I LOVE!

I did check out your .mac gallery yesterday at work. Nice layout but one thing I didn't like was I couldn't comment on photos. So many smart ass comments I had and nowhere to send them too. :-\

I was actually looking for the documentation on installing Sysprep on the VI box and came across your site. Hope you've figured out the joys of templates. I always reccomend bringing in a consultant to assist with a new VMware implementation. While the set-up and install is relatively straightforward, there is just so much to it. And you are right, there are some very basic items that aren't as clearly documented as they should be.

Thanks Chris, I made the correction. It might be a change from Ubuntu 6.06 to the newest, or a typo!
