Shannon was just telling me about some bad customer service she has to put up with at work. It seems that:
- Her mouse doesn’t work, which causes mistakes.
- It takes 3 reboots to properly login, making her ‘late’ in the morning.
To me, these things are unacceptable. The “IT” staff have replaced the mouse a few times. These issues would never fly if I knew one of my customers (teachers) had these sorts of problems.
What’s worse? She’s complained to her boss about it any got yelled at with “there’s nothing I can do about it!” Awful. Stick up for your people, man.
Query: What kind of IT support do you receive at work?
Guido Grentzmann: it just seems that nothing works with my new computer
Stephanie: I truely regret for the inconvenience caused.
Stephanie: The issue seems to be hardware malfunction.
Guido Grentzmann: what shall I do, stop the recovery process ?
Stephanie: Yes. Stop the recovery disks process.
Stephanie: And perform hard drive self test.
Guido Grentzmann: so I say bye bye to my three dvds?
Stephanie: How much percent it left to complete recovery disks process?
Guido Grentzmann: no idea it doesn’t tell me
Guido Grentzmann: but since 3 hpours i am “nearly done”
Guido Grentzmann: the gren bar is sat 3 quarters
Stephanie: Exit the setup.
Stephanie: I mean exit creating recovery disks.
Stephanie: And perform hard drive self test.
Guido Grentzmann: ok
Stephanie: Here are the steps:
Guido Grentzmann: it is stopping right now
Stephanie: Allright.
Stephanie: Restart the system
1. Keep pressing F10 as soon as you see HP logo to enter into BIOS
2. In BIOS you will find Tool
3. In this you have Self Test HDD.
4. In this you find two type of test.
1. Short test and
2. Long test.
5. Choose the first one and perform the test.
6. And if the test result is clear without any error message then go for the second test.
7. Else, your HDD is bad and please take the Backup as soon as possible.
8. Else, Perform the test two to know the status of it.
9. If the test result is clear then the HDD is fine. Else, need to take a backup and to be replaced.
Stephanie: If the hard drive self test if pass, then the issue could be with Operating System not installed correctly. At this moment, I recommend you to perform PC recovery (Set the Notebook back to factory settings).
Guido Grentzmann: that is a nice joke
Guido Grentzmann: because there is no promt to ask you to do a recovery before you follow the instructions when turning the computer on
Guido Grentzmann: I already ordered the CDs for recovery this afternoon, when I found out that that was not provided by hp
Guido Grentzmann: i just thought it would not be that bad and tried to do the recoveryr disk set now.
Stephanie: I undersrand your concern.
Guido Grentzmann: adn ?
Stephanie: I suspect that the issue is with hard drive.
Guido Grentzmann: ok
Stephanie: So, please perform hard drive self test first.
Guido Grentzmann: then I need tpo bring it back to the shop ?
Guido Grentzmann: the compiuter is still “stopping ” the recovery disk set up
Guido Grentzmann: shall I go into task manager and abort ?
Stephanie: When did you receive the Notebook?
Guido Grentzmann: yesterday
Stephanie: Yes. End the process from Task manager.
Stephanie: Since you bought the Notebook yesterday, you can also contact stores.
Guido Grentzmann: ok i restart it
Stephanie: Fine.
Stephanie: Is there anything e
Stephanie: lse I can help you with today?
Guido Grentzmann: have you already seen other people with issues with the hard-drive on this machine ?
Stephanie: Its unfortunate that you are experiencing the issue.
Guido Grentzmann: you did not answer my question stephanie
Guido Grentzmann: are you still tere ?
Guido Grentzmann: hello
Guido Grentzmann: i am in the bios now
Guido Grentzmann: are you still there ?
Guido Grentzmann: I have recorded our conversation
Guido Grentzmann: I understand that you will not respond any more
Guido Grentzmann: I consider to put this exchange on the internet, so that as many people as possible can read it.
